Jafza Newsletter

September 22, 2008
We have added six new Jafza articles to our library in the past week, all of them published by the T&D.

Jafza is moving forward rapidly with Chuck Heath, Jafza's managing director, declaring that preliminary work on the development of a 1,300-acre logistics, manufacturing and distribution park is nearing completion.

Rail transport, truck traffic, the I-95 interchange and environmental issues are all covered. Also, there are plans for public hearings and a construction briefing day in the near future.

Our thanks to the T&D for keeping our community informed on these developments.
Here are some highlights from the past week:

Jafza found ideal place, official says
  • Jafza plans to employ about 90 percent American employees
  • …“green is the color” of the company’s commitment to ensure its operations leave a small environmental impact.
  • Jafza plans to hold a construction briefing day sometime in late October or early November with various construction contractors, and town and government leaders. It is also planning a series of public hearings about its plans.
Jafza International vision local, global
  • The idea is to make Santee more than a trucking center, with nearly half of the 1,300 acres owned by Jafza being devoted to open spaces.
  • Most of the remaining acreage will be warehousing and support businesses from food establishments to repair centers. Land across Interstate 95 may become recreation facilities.
  • “We don’t want those trucks getting off on Highway 6.”
